For red-carpet watchers, it was what we've been waiting for. At the SAG Awards last night, we were treated to interesting and unexpected dresses, resulting in a perky, pretty display of fashion that didn't bore (well, for the most part). For once, celebs didn't really play it safe — and for this, we are glad.

I loved Emma Stone from head-to-toe. The gathered lace on her dress, bag, and shoes all went together without looking too matchy-matchy. The added bonus is her clutch, the ornate handle of which features two gold unicorns.

S

The organic fabric up top, paired with such a modern, futuristic cut lent Emilia Clarke's (Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones) just the right amount of little old lady chic.

S

I love a jumpsuit, and Rose Byrne's sequins and Michelle Pfeiffer-Scarface 'do made it so glamorously coke-y.

S

From afar, shoulders of Kelly Osbourne's dress had this cool geometric appearance, but up close, the detailing revealed some bling.

S

I'm not one of those people that's into Tilda Swinton's typical red carpet weirdness, because I'm always just like, "Girl, mascara. C'mon." But I love her simple white gown and gold cuff.

S

This is the best that Mayim Bialik has ever looked at a fancy event. And her frog bracelet strikes the exact right balance of dork and glamour.

S

It's like the rest of Jane Krakowski's dress is framing the stars of the evening: Her blinged-out tits.

S

This shade of purple suits Regina King so well, and her short hair tones down the fluffiness of the gown.

S

Gretchen Mol, Amber Heard and Judy Greer all took risks that paid off, with Greer's white '70s prom gown being one of my favorite looks of the evening.

S

Blue was a big color last night, worn by Jane Lynch, Diane Lane, and Jessica Chastain.

S

Julie Bowen, Dianna Agron, Sofia Vergara all worked fuschia.

S

It seemed like 70% of the red carpet was covered with lace. Stacy Keibler, Aleksa Palladino, and Amber Riley provided some of the better efforts of it.

S

Ruching three ways: Emily Blunt, Missi Pyle, and Nancy O'Dell.

S

Viola Davis' bracelet complimented her Greek goddess look really well.

S

Maya Rudolph and Jenna Fischer both recently had kids, and I love that they represent what post-partum women actually look like, as opposed to some kind of false ideal.

S

Tina Fey, Jayma Mays, and Jessica Lange were some of the few who went sparkly.

S

Angelina Jolie opted for simplicity, per usual. She looked hot, per usual.

S

Here's a horrid trend that Glenn Close was working: See-thru sleeves.

S

It must be a "woman of a certain age" thing because Cicely Tyson did it, too.

S

Kaley Cuoco's hair was pretty but her dress was like a pile of frothy ladies' shaving gel.

S

However, younger women like Ashlee Simpson, Zoe Saldana, and Anna Gunn had see-thru capelet things.

S

If feel like if you're gonna have a super-short haircut, you need to really bring it, fashion-wise, and Michelle Williams' gown is only so-so. It's kind of weird that Kristen Wiig is wearing a thick choker with a high-collared dress. Shailene Woodley looks like a pair of Billabong board shorts.

S

In the Didn't You Realize There Would Be Cameras category, we have Penelope Ann Miller, Jenna Ushkowitz, and Heather Morris.
