Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is resigning from her seat in the US House of Representatives after being shot in the head while meeting constituents. Watch her friend, Florida's Debbie Wasserman Schultz, read her final statement to her colleagues as Giffords looks on, surrounded by friends. And ready the Kleenexes.

Giffords's final speech calls for a government that represents the best of the nation, and not the worst. It memorializes the 6 people killed on the day she nearly lost her life. She wrote,

Amid all that was lost on January 8th, there is also hope and faith. This past year, it is what I have often clung to: Hope that our government can represent the best of our nation, not the worst. Faith that Americans working together— in our communities, in our Congress— can succeed without qualification. Hope and faith that even as we are set back by tragedy or profound disagreement, in the end we come together as Americans to set a couse toward greatness.

So how far did you make it before you lost your shit? I made it until 2:47.
