Police Suggest You Conduct Your Craigslist Transactions Down at the Station

Police in Milwaukee are offering a unique service: they'll let you conduct your Craigslist transactions inside the police station, to prevent you from being robbed. Handy! The idea came about after a big uptick in robberies that occurred during the hand-off of goods sold on Craigslist. Police officer Lisa Staffold explains, "The media has deemed it 'robbery by appointment' because you're posting ads, you're selling your iPhones, your iPads, your vehicles, and when you go to a meeting location, you're being robbed."

Anyone who's ever sold anything on Craigslist is familiar with the nervousness of meeting up with a stranger—or, even worse, letting them into your home. So this is a pretty smart way to do business, unless you're selling something super heavy like a couch. Of course, there are plenty of other things offered on Craigslist that you'd never dare do in a police station, so this offer does have its limits!
