If you need proof that the Academy Awards are meaningless, here you go: There's a dog generating Oscar buzz this year. Uggie, an adorable nine-year-old Jack Russell terrier, steals the show in The Artist and now there's an online campaign to nominate him for an Oscar. Uggie's owner insists he's acting, but that seems doubtful since he can't grasp the concept of pretending to be someone else. According to Hollywood legend, in 1929 Rin Tin Tin was actually voted best actor, but the award was given to a human instead. So keep in mind that whoever wins the award this year might have been secretly beaten by a dog.
