Next Sunday (January 15th) is the 69th Annual Golden Globes, though we probably don't have to tell a group of Globe Heads like you that— all year in the comments, it's like "Stop talking about Dominique Strauss-Kahn! I want to get my Globes on!" (Don't worry, we hear you.) Coming back as host is the ever-controversial Ricky Gervais, who promises to make his usual jokes at the expense of the Hollywood elite, even if it means spoiling their favorite annual circle jerk.

To get you pumped, here's Ricky's pre-Globes interview with Matt Lauer from this morning's Today Show. Though Gervais' smugness, with his anti-religious rants (we get it, Ricky) and super edgy "mong" jokes, seems to have skyrocketed over the past couple years, it's hard to deny that he brings a level of excitement and humor to an otherwise boring and predictable event. Let's hope that he brings it to Sunday's ceremony— I, for one, have been waiting for someone to hand it to Glenn Close for years.
