Three first looks at young designer Jason Wu's upcoming collection for Target, set to hit stores February 5, come to us today courtesy of Glamour and T magazine.
The dress above in the vaguely Eames-ian print will retail for $40, as will the printed bag the model is carrying, and the navy blue poplin dress with stripes. The canvas and vinyl satchel will be $50. The goods look pretty cool, with a certain ladylike appeal to match that of Wu's very pricey main line, and the prices are certainly cheap. As always with Target, what first comes to mind are questions about where, by whom, and under what circumstances clothes that cheap are made. Just kidding! I wonder what the fabric will be like: nasty and staticky-synthetic, or with a nice, soft hand?
Lucky also got a first look at one of the ads that will accompany the collaboration, which shows another cute, striped, pleated dress. The collection also promises an anthropomorphized animal friend: as T puts it, Milu is "a mischievous kitty and the collection's mascot, who makes appearances as a print on a scarf and tee." Wu seems to have a thing for animal characters: his main line is represented by an owl known as Miss Wu.
