Women in Saudi Arabia are required by law to cover their hair and wear long, loose black dresses in public. Some areas of the country require women to cover their faces as well. Now, per a recommendation by the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (CPVPV), women who are determined to have 'tempting' eyes may be required to cover their eyes as well. Nothing could possibly go wrong here!
Bikymasr reports that the ruling comes on the heels of a fight between a man and a male committee member. The man and his wife were walking in public when the committee member, tempted by the wife's slutty eye skin, ordered that she cover her eyes. Fisticuffs ensued, and the husband ended up in the hospital with stab wounds to his hand. And all because some broad couldn't stop forcing men to think lustful thoughts using her eyeballs.
How, pray tell, is a woman who has covered her hair, body, and eyes supposed to successfully navigate the streets? Will women be issued modesty goggles like the kind Vin Diesel had to wear in The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black? Will they be adding foam bumpers to the edge of things so that the thwarted eye whores are able to run into things without hurting themselves? Will Riyadh be babyproofed? Will women also be issued modesty knee pads for when they trip and fall? I guess the 3,500 CPVPV volunteers who patrol the streets looking for things that are not Promoting Virtue or Preventing Vice will have to figure that one out themselves!
This isn't the first time that the CPVPV has made a questionable recommendation for women of the country. In 2002, 14 girls died when committee members locked them inside their burning school because they wearing proper headgear. In 2003, a woman was beaten and held in solitary confinement for riding alone in the back of a taxi.
