Worth It: Pretty Tights That Stand The Test Of Time

Much unlike many a magazine editor who recommends you buy all sorts of crap that they most likely got for free, your Jezebel staff doesn't get jack shit (other than books, unsolicited). And that's how it should be. But on our own time, in our personal lives, we still buy stuff. So this is Worth It, our daily recommendation of random things that we've actually spent our own money on. These are the things we buy regularly or really like, things we'd actually tell our friends about. And now we're telling you.

For anyone who likes to put on a dress even when the temperature dips below 50, tights are a necessary part of life. And yet they're so unreliable. Put them on just slightly wrong — hell, look at them funny while having fingernails — and they're full of holes, making you look like a slattern. Luckily, I have found a solution — and it's not clear nail polish.

I received two pairs of We Love Colors tights for my twenty-sixth birthday. I am now twenty-eight, and neither pair has any holes. Okay, the turquoise ones have a small run, but compare that to my typical tights experience, in which holes develop within the first wearing, and it looks pretty damn good. What also looks good: the tights themselves. They come in 51 solid colors and a number of patterns, and are pretty and fun, especially when the weather is neither. Turquoise unexpectedly goes with everything. I also have olive green, and I'm on the point of picking up a few more.

We Love Colors has a selection of plus-size tights, modeled by lovely, actually-plus-sized ladies. They also feature a number of non-white models on their site. And at $12.50$8-$16 a pair, you can buy some for play and work (they have more understated colors as well), for your legs and your arms, or for you and a friend.

Worth It only features things we paid for ourselves and actually like. Don't send us stuff.
