Who Moved My Cheese Into Their Pocket And Walked Out Of The Store?

If you had to guess the food that was the most often stolen from stores, what would it be? Booze? Steak? Chewing Gum? Nope, it's not any of those. It's cheese. That's right, according to a new report from the Center for Retail Research, cheese is the most commonly stolen food item in the world.

This isn't too shocking, considering that it is one of the most delicious foods in the world, but it seems it occupies the top spot because it's also among the most expensive items. The report found that four percent of cheese went missing. That is a lot of cheddar—and it's not just being stolen for use on crackers.

"It's not just grannies saying, I need some cheese I'll just go and steal it. A lot of the theft is for resale and a lot of this cheese will be resold into other markets or to restaurants."

Who knew there was such a strong black market for cheese? It's only a matter of time before someone makes a gripping thriller about a cheese heist.
