Weird Nasal Spray Could Make You Tan, Horny

British regulators say Ubertan, a nasal spray that supposedly tans the skin, may be unsafe. Also, it might make you really horny. (Basically, it will turn you into The Situation.)

Tanning nasal spray, you ask? Well, yes — according to the Guardian, Ubertan is made with melanotan, which can make skin produce more melanin and become darker. However, side effects of Ubertan include "nausea, migraines, dizziness, palpitations and enhanced libido." A gym owner who knows some users of the product says the "vast majority" of them become nauseous and have changes in sex drive. Also, using it without sun exposure makes you look really weird: "I have got some guys who use them without going in the sun –- it makes you a really grey shade of brown and gives you rings under the eyes."

In case the risk of looking like a hungover potato isn't deterrent enough, a spokesman for Britain's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has issued this warning:

We strongly advise people not to use this product. Ubertan or any other melanotan-containing product are unlicensed medicines, and as such the safety, quality and effectiveness has not been demonstrated and could have serious side effects.

Ubertan's owners could get two years in prison for illegally selling and advertising melanotan. Dr Claire Knight of Cancer Research UK adds, "Using melanotan in the quest for a tan is risking your health. If your heart's set on getting a tan, then using fake tan is a safer way to do it." A fake-and-bake is probably safer than an unregulated nasal spray, and it's certainly way less weird. However, maybe Ubertan will have a second life as an aphrodisiac. The only problem: if it turns you gray, people might not want to fuck you.
