For the evening festivities, Kate — pardon me, the Duchess of Cambridge — changed into another Sarah Burton/Alexander McQueen dress. Like the gown from her ceremony, it had a snug waist but this evening getup featured diamante detailing at the waist and was paired with an angora bolero.
Burton issued a statement saying in part, "Alexander McQueen's designs are all about bringing contrasts together to create startling and beautiful clothes and I hope that by marrying traditional fabrics and lacework, with a modern structure and design we have created a beautiful dress for Catherine on her wedding day."
Welcome to the rest of your life, Kate! Schmoozing dignitaries is a major part of the job description.
Buckingham Palace: Team Cake.
Just to reiterate: Cake.
