The new chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is so ferocious on television that, according to Politico, Republicans worry their chairman won't measure up. Here are some of her greatest hits.
According to the former communications director of the RNC, "Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz is particularly skilled at the ‘hand to hand combat' of cable news debates, often causing Republicans to wish some other Democrat had been booked in her place." His current Democratic counterpart said, "She's one of the most effective spokespeople the Democratic Party has."
Wasserman, who battled breast cancer in secret while serving in Congress and campaigning for Obama, is also vocal on women's rights — most recently, she was a strong voice against the attacks on reproductive rights. So she likely won't be particularly surprised if her aggressiveness is used against her. This is how Politico frames it: "Wasserman Schultz throws a punch nearly every time she opens her mouth - Republicans are counting on her to go overboard and become grating. But many Democrats welcome the sight of someone taking the fight to the GOP for a change." We do too.
