"Sometimes when I see a girl provocatively dressed, I'll say to myself, she probably doesn't even know that a 101 guys are going to devour her in their minds today," says pastor C.J. Mahaney in this sermon video on how women need to dress modestly for men's sakes, quoting a series of college guys. "Then again, maybe she does. To be honest, I don't know the truth... I don't know because I've never sat down with a girl and asked her why. All I need to know is that the way she presents herself to the world is bait to my sinful mind."

The concept of, you know, female agency is nowhere to be found in this sermon by the author of a sex guide for Christian husbands. Except for his lady friend who mercifully decided not to buy a provocative blouse — for the sake of the poor, helpless men who find it so hard to control themselves. The idea that women might ever experience lust themselves, or that physical attraction often occurs irrespective of clothing choice, never quite gets broached.

Here's Mahaney's advice: "To the girls who are ignorant, please serve your brothers. Have your Dad screen your wardrobe. Ask him how you can better choose holiness over worldliness. He's a guy, he knows more than you do on the issue." They always do.
