A study published in Environmental Health Perspectives found more than 20,000 micrograms of cadmium, (which is 100 times the [U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission]-recommended maximum exposure of 200 micrograms through ingestion) in the majority of charms, bracelets and necklaces, primarily imported from China.
