Klepto Cat Gets Caught On Tape

We’ve heard of literal “cat burglars” — felines who steal items from around the neighborhood — before, but this is the first time we’ve seen a kitty kleptomaniac caught in the act.

In the past three years, Dusty the cat has stolen more than 600 items from neighbors in San Mateo, California, earning him the nickname “Klepto the cat.” He’s particularly fond of bathing suits, but will steal basically anything he can get his paws on.

This week on the new Animal Planet show Must Love Cats, cameras were set up outside his house to determine Dusty’s M.O.

Dusty’s criminal exploits may have made him a national media star, but nothing can beat the local news station’s coverage, which includes the line, “It’s a purr-fect night for a heist.”
