As previously mentioned, director Baz Luhrmann is working on a film version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby, with Leonardo DiCaprio possibly playing Gatsby. Guess who had dinner Tuesday night in New York? Baz, Leo… and Blake Lively.
A source says the dinner was "strictly business;" there were eight people at the table, including "the director's whole crew." Sigh. Leo is an amazing actor, but Blake? Ugh. She is not Daisy Buchanan, and her earnest acting "style" doesn't seem suited for the campy theatricality of a Baz Luhrmann film.
So we could be down to two choices for Daisy: Scarlett or Blake. In which case, please, for the love of Zelda, let it be Scarlett. If Baz really likes Blake, maybe she can play lady golfer Jordan Baker?
