  • In her new unauthorized Oprah Winfrey tell-all, Kitty Kelly claims that Oprah's mother Vernita, "Buys $500 hats, and she has a very good life financially, but she can't reach Oprah. Oprah will not give her mother her telephone number."
  • Another source told Radar, "The assistant tells Oprah what her mother wants and then the assistant calls Vernita back and tells her what Oprah said," though occasionally Oprah will speak to her mother directly. [Radar]
  • Shania Twain will star in a reality show on Oprah Winfrey's new network called, Why Not? With Shania Twain about moving on after her marriage collapsed. She tells Oprah, "This is a very personal experience that I think is important to share. This is an experience of recovery.   • About 30 of Corey Haim's close friends gathered at a restaurant last night in lieu of a memorial service. "It was like a reunion," says Kristy Swanson.   • Charles Barkley attacked Billy Payne, who runs the Masters, on Fox Sports Radio for criticizing Tiger Woods about his sex scandal saying, "You got this punk ass Billy Payne who goes on TV ... for him to get on there and act like he's all Uncle Tom, he's the master on the plantation, that piss me off...
