Good Enough To Eat Meet: Say Hello To Our Newest Ladyblogger

Ladies (and gents!): we're thrilled and excited to introduce you to the site's newest staffer, Irin Carmon.

Irin, pictured masticating a delicious mackerel sandwich while in Istanbul last month, is the latest and greatest addition to the Jezebel staff, where she will be reporting, writing, and helping us engage in minor acts of women's media disobedience.

Irin's curriculum vitae is both varied and impressive: a native of Israel, she grew up on Long Island before heading off to Harvard, where she majored in literature and wrote for the Crimson on everything from activist sex workers in Amsterdam and Buenos Aires to the Miss America pageant. After graduation, she worked for the Anniston Star in Anniston, Alabama, where she covered, among other topics, the longest flea market in the world, evangelical Zionists, and Hurricane Katrina evacuees. Her travel column for the Boston Globe both helped pad out her passport and her fluency in Portuguese and Spanish, and, from 2006 to October 2009 she worked at Women's Wear Daily for that paper's much-read, oft-quoted "Memo Pad" column, where she covered media and dug deep into the likes of Vogue's Anna Wintour, Miley Cyrus and got on Martha Stewart's shitlist. She describes herself as "mildly obsessed with yoga, Latin America, interior decorating blogs and shelter mags", and we're pleased as punch to have her. Please give her a warm welcome!
