Anyone hoping for the architectural, sculpted, feathered, broad-shouldered histrionics of Alexander McQueen's runway shows will of course be disappointed — this Target collection, which isn't a GO International line but rather something the company is calling a Designer Collaboration — is a version of his younger, cheaper, simpler, mostly denim McQ line. But it's probably better that the talented designer not try and translate his flagship show stoppers to $39.99 dresses.
The collection was inspired by 90s Brit rocker Leila Moss, and the first images to go public, last November, looked a little...tired. (Screen-printed t-shirts, how original.) But the full set of looks is rock 'n' roll in a much less predictable way. The gallery below showcases the full mix of leather, studs, '50s circle skirts, sporty swimsuits, and asymmetric draping. The colors keep it wearable and simple in black, grey, and royal blue, with a few touches of hot pink. All in all, I can see a lot of this working its way into people's wardrobes come March 1.
