Alexis Roland is an 8-year-old snowboarding prodigy who is already beating athletes more than twice her age in competition. At the moment, her two biggest obstacles are that she doesn't have enough body mass to generate the speed to get big air, and she's too good to compete in any age group but the "open" class against adults. When Lexi's dad told her she'd been nicknamed "Snow White" she exclaimed, "That’s dumb! It’s a princess name! Get that out of there!” before he explained that it's actually a reference to the Olympian Shaun White. Lexi says her ultimate goal is to be good enough to beat Shawn at the Olympics. "And I wanna do a 9," she adds, or two and a half rotations in the air, “when I’m 9." [NY Times]
