The Creative Arts Awards is one of those vague awards shows that no one really knows much about. The awards seem to be respectable — you get, like, Chloe Sevigny, Ira Glass and James Lipton — but also red-carpet fixtures like Kathy Griffin, various teen starlets and reality TV fixtures. The red carpet at LA's Nokia Live Theatre kind of mirrored this confusion — some people, like Jennifer Beals, looked Oscar-amazing; others were less than ready for Prime-Time, a few were just flat-out confusing — so much so that I'm gonna go ahead and ask you to be the judge. After the jump!
The Good:
Jennifer Beals is depressingly beautiful. Just sayin'.
Not only does Cat Deeley host one of the best reality shows on TV, So You Think You Can Dance, she's channeling total Studio 54 glam here.
Yeah, dancer Julianne Hough 's gown is a bit "Ascot Gavotte," but you know who did the costumes for that movie? Cecil friggin' Beaton.
It's really sad how much credit I give young actresses like Alyson Stoner just for looking age-appropriate.
The Bad:
On the upside, if you added some kind of flamingo head to Paige Hemmis' ensemble you'd have a rad costume.
Is a dress like Lisa Edelstein 's considered "a classic" if it would have looked equally at home in 1987 but still would have been ugly?
You Be The Judge
Everyone loves Jenna Fischer, but she has an unfortunate tendency to channel Pam Beasley on the red carpet. Relatively speaking, this is cute. Or is it?
We all know Chloe Sevigny is a proponent of experimental fashion, so by her standards this is both wearable and flattering. Or is it?!
The Ugly:
Vyxsin Fiala FTW!
