Women's Equality Day In Afghanistan
A US soldier poses for a photograph with an Afghan woman during a ceremony held to celebrate Women's Equality Day in Bagram Air base, some 50 kms north of Kabul on August 26, 2008. Women's Equality Day is one of the many commemorations that the Army celebrates. About 25,000 US troops are based in Afghanistan under a US-led coalition and the separate 40,000-strong NATO-led International Security Assistance force (ISAF) deployed here to fight a resurgent Taliban-led insurgency.
