The "Altered Barbie" exhibition in San Francisco (of course!) features Barbie in all kinds of non-Mattel approved scenarios: Barbie as wood nymph! Barbie with an iguana! Barbie with (gasp!) nipples! Photographer Danny Sanchez, known as "the Barbie guy" in art school, poses the famous blond in the same frame as real-life beauties, whether Vogue fashion models, female impersonator RuPaul, or showgirls from the musical Chicago.
