The Whaleman Foundation is this organization that seeks to save the grey whale and prevent its hunting in Japan. I once saw a segment - I think on Extra - about Hayden Panettiere's work with the organization, physically blocking a whale from a harpooning, although I might be conflating with Moby Dick here. So it makes sense that Hayden just hosted the charity's benefit dinner at Hollywood's Beso. It's also a relief that I can put her in "Good" with a clear conscience. The other guests? Not so much. Eva Longoria Parker, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Isabel Lucas and more, after the jump.
The Good: Okay, I don't adore Hayden's dress here, but I think it works on her, and the woven bodice is very Project Runway-winner. The final data is not in, but early reports indicate that Sendhil Ramamurthy is the most dapper, handsome man in the entire world. Nice to see Heroes giving their costar some love.
The Meh: I guess Eva L-P looks okay and everything but "uninspired" does not begin to express the drabness of this safari-denim combo, which, when you think about it, is in vaguely poor taste given the cause. There are things to like about Leonor Varela's striped wrap, but at the end of the day, the Jonny collar takes it into mumsy. With good shoes, Laura Margolis could have stepped this LBD up. But she opted for low T-Straps.
The Bad: At first glance I thought, wow, Dania Ramirez's high-waisted skirt is really unfortunate. And that was before I realized it was in fact cuffed jeans. I guess Isabel Lucas's getup could have been kinda Haight-Ashbury casual, but the hat takes it into the realm of "deliberate eccentricity" - never a good place to be. Melinda Raney's creamsicle special. Isn't it strange that she and Eva L-P dressed for the same event?
The Ugly Heidi Cortez is a study in quiet restraint.
