Hot on the heels of the story of two American women who calmed down a violent intruder by giving him a beer, a Japanese woman and her child escaped unhurt from a knife-wielding robber by offering him a cup of tea. The unnamed woman, 30, listened to the criminal talk for 20 minutes, gave him 10,000 yen (roughly $90), then escaped and called the police from a pay phone. The thief is still being sought by police, so Japanese Jezebels should keep an eye out for a violent but overshare-y dude who is prone to self-involved diatribes and a fondness for hot, herbal water.
