MTV's XBox Party: About As Dull As It Sounds

Slim pickings today, kids. Seems like everyone chic in the world was at YSL's funeral (and don't think I wasn't tempted...!) So, we're left with MTV's "XBox Party" in Sydney. For us Yanks, this is uncharted territory; think the equivalent of the MTV Movie Awards, where you haven't heard of half the people anyway, but in Australia. Which is, I suppose, good for objectivity purposes! Oh, and nb: no "Uglies" today. It's not that everyone was too good; just too boring. As you may have figured out, the "Uglies" are kind of my favorites - I love their 'don't-give-a-fuck' elan - and I'm unwilling to award the honor to those who haven't earned it. Picks and pans, Down-Under-style, after the jump.

The Good:

I'm diggin' actress Virginia Gay's shirtwaist ensemble like Mike Mulligan and his steam shovel dug...that big hole.

Not sure what Kelly Rowland was doing in Australia, but glad she made it. I like her in the high-waist, controversial hose and all.

This "good" refers exclusively to the Australia's Next Top Model in the center (Rebecca Jobson.) The other two ANTM? We don't talk about that.

Black tights may be nearing their sell-by, but they still have legs (sorry) as demo'd by TV Host Sophie Faulkner.

The Bad:
MTV VJ Ruby Rose. (Sometimes the 'if you can't say anything nice...' maxim dies hard.)

I daresay Clayton Watson is a very fine actor, but this getup makes him look like the creepy dude you avoid at a bar.

I think in the right context, Amy Erbacher's emerald blouse could work. You know, a different context.

The gal in the parka is, apparently, "fashion designer Tali Jatali." Yes.

A part of me wonders whether, if I liked Science Fiction more, I'd be able to appreciate MTV VJ Maz Compton's dress. As it is, I was on the fence...but in the end it's just not working for me.
