Lip blinking levels: code orange.
Look, man. After that bout of amnesia she endured after falling off of that boat, she's not taking any chances.
"KATARINA!"
"ARTURO!... PUT ON A HELMET!!!!!"
Ok, I really thought that was Kelsey Grammar at first. Too many Frasier re-runs on Lifetime, I suppose.
Also, could someone explain to me the appeal of bike shorts? I don't really like clothing that goes up my crack for bicycling activities.
Active, Not Polluting
My mother would be so proud.
Kurt's wondering when Goldie turned into Donatella Versace.
Cubs World Series drought - one of the only things longer than the Russell/Hawn hit movie drought.
/counting down to my slap-down from amazonred
@hortense: But, they've been together ever since. Sometimes good things do come from amnesia!
@Lipstick Librarian: And Goldie is wondering when Kurt turned into Gene Hackman.
@es-ki-mo: I can't believe you just quoted Overboard. I seriously think I love you.
And, fun fact, it was filmed in my hometown. The hospital was my middle school.
@es-ki-mo: "Acggcht! I just. Ate a bug."
whoa. kurt russell in a cubs tshirt. i thought he would totally be a member of the red sox bandwagon nation thing.
Death, marriage, and kick ass baseball teams: let me show you my immunity stick.
@Scoregasm: Completely Useless by September!!! St. Louis sends its warmest regards, Mr. Rusell. Mwahaha.
@Archetype: I love that movie, and I wave the green flag of jealousy that you went to school there.
there is something so wrong about a man in spandex who isn't a ballet dancer.
Stuntman Mike wouldn't be caught dead in a helmet.
@hortense: Still works for me.
@Lipstick Librarian: Who doesn't love Royal Tenenbaum?
I LOVE them. And I secretly love Overboard. I just can't help it!
@Lipstick Librarian: That was hilarious! Well done!
As a former Iowan, I will gladly point out that Kurt's rockin' an I-Cubs' t-shirt, the AAA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, located in scenic Des Moines.
Jerry Seinfeld went to Des Moines, once. Once.
@es-ki-mo: I think I've seen it 1027 times.
@Archetype:
You went to middle school in a hospital? That must have been traumatizing.
@Scoregasm: Taking the easy route on that one, eh? You couldn't come up with anything more original than that? You'll get yer slap-down when your smack talk is original enough to deserve it.
The snap wasn't taken in Brentwood -- it's in Santa Monica, the corner of 5th/Broadway to be exact (I lived a block away from there). Oh, why did I move to Pasadena where the only star I ever see is Wink Martindale?
nice shorts kurt...
@es-ki-mo: @hortense: No, Madam, I cannot let you do this. Not without a bike helmet.
Madam, you really should play a little hard to get.
@nowimpissed: :-) The "hospital" in the film was my school, I should have said.
I want to become the kind of woman who doesn't start a big fight over whether her husband wears a helmet or not. I will wear my helmet, and if he dies, he dies.
@AmazonRedheadedUberVixen: Hell, at least I didn't say that I wish Kurt and Goldie could make hits as easily as Ted Lilly gives them up.
Quick! Somebody stop her! She stole Tom Cruise's speshul helmut and the aliens are going to escape!
Also, wtf? Kurt in an Iowa Cubs t-shirt? I've seen people wear major league team shirts, even famous people. But the shirt of a farm team? As a long-time supporter of the Iowa Cubs, and state resident, even I wouldn't be caught wearing such a shirt.
@angelicola: I don't quite get that to be honest. Many, many children have ridden bikes for years without death or serious injury related to falling off one's transportation.
At what point did we decide it necessary to overprotect children from life?
@blackbirdfly: They don't ride up yer crack. That's the point. Moves sweat away, compresses the muscles, pads the seat, and doesn't send fabric up the butt.
@Xavoc: Many, many cyclists HAVE suffered serious injury not wearing helmets. I've had to replace 3 in the past year. Admittedly, 2 were damaged from crazy mountain biking. But one got split when I got pushed off the road by a landscaping truck.
@Xavoc: In response to that, I have a question for you:
Q. What do you call a bicyclist who doesn't wear a helmet?
A. An organ donor
Bike helmets became necessary around the time everyone started driving like a-holes who won't stop for a stop sign much less a kid on a bike. I'm glad to see Goldie setting a good example, and hope Kurt's life insurance is beefy and paid up.
@Scoregasm: That might have been funny, had Lilly not just held the Cards to 6 hits in 7 innings in a 9-3 Cubs win on Saturday.
Timeliness, u ain't got it.
@Xavoc: @telecomic the scary red panda: holla! current and former iowans up in here.
i was about to note the IOWA cubs t-shirt as well but you guys beat me to it.
sigh -- i miss summers in iowa.
[bike Geek on]
I wanna know why famous people are riding crappy bikes, and why the shop let them out the door w/out putting some slicks on.
[Bike geek off]
@JustZoot: Working in a city with a large number of bicyclists, I can say this. The number of bad drivers is equal per capita to the number of bad bicyclists.
I see more bicyclists blowing through red lights and stop signs here than drivers.
@westward ho: I don't. We're just south of Minnesota where the mosquito is the state bird. So... I hate being eaten alive.
I really do miss the state fair though.
@Xavoc: Totally not the case. I guarantee it. Drivers just get used to certain behaviors from drivers, and don't recognize them as problematic.
Cyclists and drivers tend to break different rules for different reasons.
I would be very sad if we lost Goldie Hawn to a cycling accident, so I'm glad she's playing it safe.
A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine was hit, while riding her bike in an urban setting, by a postal truck. She basically hit the curb headfirst, but she was wearing a helmet. So the moral is WEAR A HELMET!
Kinda disappointing not so see the famous nipples -- maybe she's wearing a matching breastplate as well?
@redheadedstepchild: Yeah, you'd think they'd be able to afford a Cannondale or a nice Fuji or even an Aegis...what are those, Huffys?
@westward ho: @Xavoc: I miss roadtrips to Fairfield, the Amana Colonies, riding my bike down Grand Avenue, Stella's, Monterrey's, Dahl's, the big-ass Hy-Vee in Waukee, Billy Joe's Pitcher Show, Valley Junction, affordable rent and I really miss being skinnier than every one else. I moved back to DC, and suddenly, I'm big and beefy. Out in Iowa, I looked like Christian Bale in The Machinist. WTF?
