Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, and Jordan and Jonathan Knight of New Kids on the Block are gettin' the band back together, and the quintet went on Today this morning to talk about their upcoming album and hype up their May 16th Today performance live in the Plaza. Joey is still cute, Donnie was wearing a piece with a lace front, Jordan lost the excess weight he had on The Surreal Life, Jonathan was wearing a clear retainer, and Danny continues to be the Ringo of the group. Props to Natalie Morales for having the balls to say, "You guys went from the biggest act around to just disappearing. What happened?" Clip above.

Oh, come on!
Why is it that 15 years later they still make my 9 year old heart swoon?! I always loved Jonathan, he was the klassiest one.
Words cannot express the extent of my loathing for the NKOTB.
NKOTB was the first concert I ever went to ... I was 6 and convinced that Joey and I were going to get married. Unfortunately for me, most other girls aged 6-12 thought this as well.
Hey, Joey McIntyre is still cute. Well, good on him.
$10 says Urban Outfitters starts selling those big-ass NKOTB buttons for 20 bucks a pop.
Holy frick. Between this and Agyness Deyn's outfit: my pre-adolescence, u can haz it.
did they replace Danny with someone that looks nothing like him?
Yes times 15! CAN NOT WAIT.
i'm too old to be nostalgic about them...
@stacyinbean: totally. and he dated tiffany!
Also, please no comparisons of any New Kid to any Beatle. Even Ringo.
"Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh"
Ahhhh! My neighbors used to have NKOTB trading cards! I wasn't cool enough to purchase such things.
@marimari: Oh come on! He still looks the same.
When I was a kid I would put up the pictures of Danny on the inside of my closet because he wasn't cute enough for the walls but I didn't want to completely single him out. This was also my first concert, I think I was 8 or 9, I thought my dad was the most amazing person on the planet for taking me.
she had to look at her paper for their names? I'm embaressed to say i would not. i could also probably say their birthday and their likes and what the look for in a girl.
sigh.
I was sure that I was going to marry Joey when I was like eight. I'm fairly certain he was my first masturbation material. And I had the Jonathan doll that always dated my barbies and gave them head, I was a slut even back then.
Whatever. They're no Take That. Now there was a reunion tour worth waiting a decade for!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! This is so massively exciting words cannot express the extent of my joy. I pray to god my friends will be into going to this concert!
I LOVE JOHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ForeverBlueGirl: I had it all. It was my big obsession of childhood. The posters, the puzzles, the dolls, the sweatshirts, the sheets! I love them so much I even collected a New Kid cousin to marry.
I was embarrassed watching all those women in their mid-20s, my age, going nuts screaming until I realized that will TOTALLY be me when their tour comes around.
NKOTB painter's hat with hair tucked in. Giant hoop earrings. My Jesus Camp uniform: let me show u it.
@Winkeleh: Jealous!
My parents wouldn't let me go to the concert. They bought me NKOTB curtains instead. Seriously. Curtains with their pictures all over it.
I couldn't believe Donnie was the skinny, tormented ghost-attracter who shoots Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense.
@stacyinbean: Me TOO. I loved Jon. I even had the giant button w/his face on it.
@AthertonMerriweather:
What?? He was your fave? He looks soo old...
So, do we get to have a Jezebel meetup at the Today Show on May 16?
Does anybody else get the feeling that the whole thing is a prolonged April Fool's joke? It just seems weird.
I had the Jonathan doll, even though Joey was my favorite. I loved his curly hair poking out of his cutoff hat.
NKOTB lunchbox here. Awwww yeah.
I didn't really like them way back when, but for some reason, I would totally go to a concert now. Providing I didn't have to spend more than 30 bucks.
i never thought they were cute.... now i do.
woahhhh danny scares me. remember that special where they went to disney land (world?) and all "lived out their wildest dreams". danny was a meat head on a beach where he battled it out gay-musical-style with another big meathead.
i always fast forwarded through his part.
The only thing I got from that clip was a craving for a Dean & Deluca salad.
The Today Show crowd was surprisingly tame. I walked right past it this morning as folks were yelling and going "WOOOO". I didn't even get like shoved off the sidewalk or blindsided by fans or anything. I feel famous because that's my Dean and Deluca, right there.
Shitty out there in NYC today, though. Cold and there's a weird, fine particulate drizzle going on.
Always being the shortest in my class, I loved little Joey McIntyre the best. I also hate to admit that on pointless, bongwater days in college, sometimes we'd drive by his house.
@PinkSoxHat: You seriously are an inspiration.
@ForeverBlueGirl: I accidentally stole a pack of NKOTB trading cards from Toys R Us. I had then in my hand and forgot about them when I walked back out into the mall. I was horrified and snuck back in to pay for them.
@stacyinbean: Sometimes, I pretended to like Danny, but I just felt sorry for him for being so ugly. Looking back now, I realize they were all pretty tore up.
However -- if Donnie proposed marriage to me today, I would accept. Lace front and all!
@rantmagazine:boo hoo: I'm old.
My parents wouldn't let me listen to NKOTB because they thought they sucked so I had to go over my friends house's to hear their tapes and watch their concert videos. Now I have my own place and can blast NKOTB whenever I want. At least one of my childhood dreams came true...
You know Joey Joe's ready!
@katastic: Toby in 5th grade jumped on my bright orange NKOTB lunch box and broke it. When I tattled, the teacher just rolled his eyes. I think he had the right idea.
My sister was into Joey, but I preferred Jordan. In hindsight, her tastes were far superior to mine. He is cute!
She even had a Joey T-shirt with a giant photo of his face on it. Once, she spilled ketchup on it, and my dad accused Joey of having a giant zit. Oh, the tears that followed!
I never liked NKOTB, but Joey is still cute.
@I Will Not Stop Feeding My Fat Baby: I totally had a friend who claimed that Danny was her favorite. She had the big button and the posters, the whole deal.
Years later, she admitted that Joey was her true heart's desire, she just felt bad for Danny because noone liked him.
@LaComtesse: I know, right? I'm totally emailing this to my friend RIGHT NOW. We are so going.
@AthertonMerriweather:
God-I wrote NKOTB on ALL my clothes!! I was sooo dorky! I really fancied Danny-but what are they doing??
@blackbirdfly: Have you never listened to NKOTB's "Tonight"? Jordan used to say it was "Beatle-esque". Lulz.
mmm i saw joey in an off-broadway musical a couple of years ago ("tick tick boom," written by the late jonathan larson... better known for "RENT")-- and he was impressively and extremely great in it-- totally rekindled my crush
My sister & I both had NKOTB sleeping bags! My mom kept them & lately she's started quilting and pulling out all the old clothes she kept from us… like my… ummm… Z- Cavaricci's… well, needless to say, in this trip down embarrassing childhood fashion quilt, the NKOTB sleeping bag will be included! SO humiliating! (albeit hilarious!)
NKOTB was my first record album that I had ever bought...I was five and thought I was sooooo cool. These days, its hidden in my old toy box at home so my brother won't find it and tease me about it. Then again, his favorite movie is "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" so I suppose he and I have some good ammo against each other.
But still, about NKOTB: YYYAAAAAYYYYY!!!
@I Will Not Stop Feeding My Fat Baby: OMG I forgot all about that song until my boyfriend (as a joke--to him, not me) got me their greatest hits CD for Christmas last year. It's awesomely horrible.
I had the Joey McIntyre poster because I didn't want my friends to think I was lame for just listening to old records all the time.
My records: still awesome.
NKOTB: not so much.
Donnie, for the love of god, RUN! Go play an alcoholic cop or something.
i was never into any of this stuff as a child. i'm kind if glad, actually. \
@I Will Not Stop Feeding My Fat Baby: Barf! I'm not even kidding when I say that shit makes me mad. I was in junior high when this "band" (right) came out and all my friends went nuts. I was teased relentlessly for listening to The Beatles all the time. It made no sense. I know it's ridiculous, but music is fucking serious shit for me.
Step five...don't you know that the time has arrived!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone remember the Jason Priestly SNL where they made fun of the New Kids? And they sang the song, "Girl, You're So Wicked Awesome"?
my hometown boys... reuniting just in time before donnie's hair melts off and jon could run away.
and really, 20 years means groupies justifying going to the tour by bringing their daughters. sweet!
I heard, from someone who works at his dentist, that Jon is openly gay with a long-term partner, quite possibly husband, now. I can't imagine they would hype that for this reunion tour, but I would also be sad if he felt he had to keep it hidden.
I LOVED New Kids on the Block. I had ... wait for it ... the cassette tape, watched the cartoon. I think I stopped at sheets and curtains. This makes me happy. I can't help it.
But rude. Who says, "You were successful then you disappeared. Where did you go?" Yo, NKOTB is from Southie. She's lucky she didn't ge
