A 7-week-old Indian lion "Raja" relaxes after feeding milk at the Yokohama zoological gardens Zoorasia, south of Tokyo, Japan.The tiny lion cub is one of a rare subspecies of lions called the Asiatic lion. Only 350 individuals are known to survive in the wild. The last of the Asiatic lions live in the state of Gujarat in India. "His mother is not only unaccustomed to raising a child but also a bit too old as a lion to raise a child. So after discussions, we decided to raise him by ourselves because it would enhance his survival probability."—Shunichiro Tajima, Zoo Keeper

@petuniacat: My thought exactly!
I miss my kitties. I love cool kitty paws on my cheek.
I need to be smooching on that nose and those paws right now.
Soooooo cute! I'm a sucker for baby cats of any size!
ahhhhhhhhhh, thank you thank you thank you. i just want to nom nom on that one!
I want to huggle it!
@Archetype: Aww, my kitteh does that in the morning to wake me up. So cute!
Also, why is it that some domestic cats look more "lionish"? My little one has a big head, similar eyes and bow legs like that little one.
Thank you. Blood pressure dropping back to passable.
@DorothyZbornak: Me too! I have a lover kitty and a wild kitty. But every morning I leave them cuddled up together on the bed.
OMG I love cats.
Seriously how can anything possibly be that cute? I look at my kitteh and think that all the time.
thank you, thank you, thank you! too cute!
Such cuteness! Such fuzzy goodness!
I just want to rub my face on his wittle face.
adorable! Thank you. That little guy is smiling in the second pic.
When I was a little kid I was sort of crushed by the fact that I would never, in my life, get to have a baby lion as a pet. O cruel, cruel, cruel world.
I cannot believe how cute that little guy's face is.
This is the reason I've always begged my parents for a pet lion as a kid. So frigging adorable. I settled for 7 cats and 4 dogs. ...
Oh that's exactly what I needed today. nom nom nom. Now back to my regularly scheduled crazy Wednesday.
Oh hello! What a nice surprise.
Ahhhhhhh! There is no "me" anymore. There is only Raja, happy smiling lion cub... The universe has ceased expanding... liony goodness.
There are not enough nom nom's for the bebe lion...So cute that my heart is bursting. I want to cuddle with the bebe. Thanks Jezzie's. I
baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaby lion!
What a muffinhead!! Oh, I needed this. I'm so sick with allergies and it's my last day at work before I start my new job on Monday. It's almost as though it were Friday now!
Too old to raise a cub? Hmm, is the Japanese government going to start taking away babies if the mothers are over 40?
Rajaaaaaa! I'm going to bite youuuu!!!! *nuzzle nuzzle* (Don't worry I say this to my kitty all the time)
ok, so tracy gets to write about hilarious moments in reality television, but dodai gets to do all the nom nom nom animal photos-- i don't know whose job i covet most!
Awww...I was about to stab my thigh with my scissors but bebe lion is making me warm and fuzzy.
I just want to scoup the kitty up and cuddle it. nom nom nom.
I need a kitten, in my arms, NOW.
Must snuggle with my kit when I get home. My poor guy's been at the vet all day having a strange growth biopsied, and this picture just made me laugh and cry at the same time. I miss him. Why are animals so so lovely?
Aw, the little closed eyes are so cute!
That bottom one is the exact face my cat makes when she's taking a poop.
Why hallo der!
@treecut: Christmas cake!
I want to dive face first into teh fuzzy baby belleh!
Just what I need to make not stab my copy editor...today.
oh cute!!!!
@Lady Skittlehattington, toast enthusiast: Oh that made me smile.
@Lady Skittlehattington, toast enthusiast: You don't say! I make that face when I'm poopin' too! I'm not as cute as the lion baby though.
SOOOOOO cute! BABYcat!
I love my little kitties at home. Any kitties at all, actually. Thanks Jezebelles! Makes me feel better about Dumbo and the rest of the cruelty of the world. (Yeah, I know it's a cartoon.)
Give it a few months and he'll be a dirty psychopath addicted to public attention.
Gimme that kat. I will love him and raise him and kiss him...
@brookidy:Holy crap that's funny. And yes--much less stabby.
I'd high-five the little dude, but I'm afraid he'd rip off my hand. By accident, as such.
@ItchykooParker: Yeah, a cruel cartoon.
O HAI JEZABELLS! PLZ NIBBLZ ON MY KITTEH PAWZ KTHXBAI.
*cooing*
Why yes, wee kitteh, u can haz a cheezburger!
WANT. OMG, makes me think of that movie Born Free. I watched that all the time when I was little. I wanted a lion cub named Elsa and I would love her and squeeze her and NOM NOM NOM.

I want to snuggle that lion!
Also - why am I reminded of Jonathan Taylor Thomas (heretoforth known as JTT) in these pictures? And not just because of the whole Simba thing?
