- One of the girls who tormented Megan Meier under the tutelage of evil mom Lori Drew is going to be on TV tomorow talking about how Lori turned out to be a crappy "mother figure." Um, yeah. [ABC]
- You know how after 9/11 the government consolidated all these government functions into the Department of Homeland Security, which was probably an expensive waste of time? Well they are sort of doing that with all the regulatory agencies that are supposed to keep track of how much money all of these sophisticated "security" things are worth so the economy doesn't find itself with a hole the size of the Russian economy in it. It will take a long time, and probably not work. [WSJ]
- Obama has his widest gap in the Gallup tracking poll of Democrats of any candidate since February. February! That is almost the month before last! [Wonkette]
- Oh, look who favors socialized medicine! The folks who provide it. Funny, that! Think they all got brainwashed by the happy British doctor in Sicko? [Reuters]
- Chelsea Clinton quotes Salt N Pepa. [Wonkette]
- Do Pennsyvlanians distrust women or black folks more? [AP]
- Paris Hilton is a "role model for young girls everywhere," according to Paris Hilton. [Redlasso]
- Finally, a pundit with the guts to take Hillary to task for this Bosnia thing. What would we do without you, Hitchens? [Slate]
- Did you hear about this whole "Earth Hour" thing? Yeah, don't worry, nobody did. [Time]

Oh Fiddy, please shut up. Every time you open your yap to comment on the "issues of the day" you subtract from the sum of human knowledge. Give it a rest.
That man makes me want to move to another planet.
I love how the media likes to get sound-bites from our community's most positive representatives. Like DMX.
Y'all are going to post the Grills interview, yes? Because I won't be up to watch it.
I was hoping Chelsea's Salt-n-Pepa quote would be more along the lines of "Push it REALLL good" or "Let's talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be."
There is nothing better than Hitchens grabbing his bottle of bourbon and settling down to relive his 90s Clinton-hating peaks. He's drunk and everyone he's ever known is apparently dead to him since '92, and in 10 years that's going to be full-on hilarious, as opposed to just secretly entertaining.
Grills insisted, though, that she was not the only adult involved in the cruel hoax
And for some reason, I'm still amazed when people think their evil acts don't really count because "Oh hai, everybody else was doing it!" Erm, aren't you taught at like, eight years old that THAT IS NOT AN EXCUSE?
@ceejeemcbeegee (star deficient): Don't bother with Michael Eric Dyson, Cornell West or Julian Bond... Let's talk politics with not even the politicaly minded rappers Chuck D, Dead Prez but go to the coke head (DMX) or the cat that speaks 3 words a minute because the brain damage he took after being shot.
@JessicaLovejoy: Stars and Dykes Forever!: Apparently not.
I mean, look at WallStreet. "These mortagages aren't safe." "So?" "But they'll collapse." "But not until after we make a couple million." "But it's irresponsible." "Ach, everyone else is doing it."
And, um, yes, I did hear about EarthDay, but the people in Brisbane who told me about it, said, 'but we're not having it here, so whatever.' Which, just confuses me. Granted, I only turned off my lights for about twenty minutes. I was in the middle of a good comic book. And, yes, I know I'm an asshole.
@ceejeemcbeegee (star deficient): Seriously. Let's ask Snoop what he thinks about the sub-prime mortgage crisis, shall we? Can't they think to talk to anyone else in the African-American community other than rappers?
@BlindKarma: Word.
The best link from that 50 article = the ranks of key figures correcting Hillary on mid-90s sniper fire now includes Sinbad and Tabitha Soren. (Soon to join: Coolio, Douglas Coupland, the cast of Melrose Place, and the drummer from 4 Non Blondes.)
@Hamsterpants: Ditto Jesse Jackson, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and Al Sharpton.
[news.bbc.co.uk]
Please, please, don't let it be this administration that 'overhauls' WallStreet.
As for the celebrities opinions on politics, I think I heard Depp gave one of the best answers around when a reporter asked him about the US's political situation. "Lady, I'm an actor. Why are you asking me that?"
[def hearsay, so I'm probably off]
@Hamsterpants: No, because we are ALL rappers. Or gangsters. Or video hos. Or comedians. Or loud, neck-rolling, obese, (insert civil servant job here). Didn't you get the memo?
@ceejeemcbeegee (star deficient): Hey, sounds like someone saw Crash and learned right moral of the story.
@aspiringexpatriate: Hmm.. upon reading that I see that the sarcasm didn't come through. I was trying to subtly say that Haggis made a film about 'racism' with the most stereotyped caricatures I've seen outside of a war movie. [I'm looking at you Tears Of The Sun].
*faux gasp* Obama won the coveted fiddy cent endorsement?!? That's probably rockin' some 14 year old gangster's world right now. Perhaps Flava Flav will be asked who he supports next.
@aspiringexpatriate: Ha! That movie was a piece of shite, wasn't it?
@ceejeemcbeegee (star deficient): Yes.
I remember the day after the oscars that year, if you goolged "crash won the oscars" you'd get "Did you mean "trash won the oscars"?"
Yeah, didn't "Fiddy" play a big Bat Mitzva a couple of years ago? A Bat Mitzva. He's gonna have to go out and get shot a couple more times to get some of his "Street Cred" back.
@misssgolightly: I was thinking Whatta Man, but you know that would draw inevitable comparisons between the size of her parents' respective testicles.
hey fiddy, here's a quarter, call someone who cares..
Although I truly appreciate the 50 cent endorsement, I'm just not going to know who to support until I know which way Dannity Kane is leaning.
@briardahl: You say that about Hitchens like its a bad thing?
Can someone kill Paris before some young girls actually start thinking she IS a role model?
Ohh wait...
Can we just kill her before MORE girls see her as a role model?
@ceejeemcbeegee (star deficient): you forgot me, i'm on welfare with nine kids, i'm not employed at all.
@wedropscience: Atleast you're not picking up a welfare check in a limo and with a camera crew.
@ceejeemcbeegee (star deficient): What didn't you like about it?
That 50-cent quote/story is the most amazing and inexplicable thing I've read in a long time. Loved it.
@briardahl: i find hitchens really hateful. him, martin amis, their whole.... thing. i can't even find the words! the article this post links to is ludicrous, it's embarassing
Despite his stunning lack of insight and inability to construct one coherent sentence with one substantive comment, $.50 has the gall to say "you need me" to voice the opinions of those too hesitant to speak?
Thanks $.50. I'll call you when I need an eight ball or a $20.00 hooker. Till then, read a newspaper. You might learn something.
Just watched the Ashley Grills interview. I have no sympathy for her. But I do have my thinspiration for the week. Yeah I'll make a fat joke if I want to. These people deserve it for what they did to Megan.
Fiddy is just pissed that he's only worth €0.36 these days.
Because I am the biggest nerd ever, I actually knew he was a Clinton supporter and now have to move him on my celebrity endorsement spreadsheet.
last time i checked hitchens hated anything with a vagina. and with the name clinton.
misogynistic asshole.
@misssgolightly: Feel the music pumpin hard like I wish you would!
I was really hoping it would be that.
I think what 50 is expressing is campaign/election fatique. Obama and Hillary have been running for nearly two years now, and it's leading to significant apathy on many people's parts.
I'm partly glad that Grills is coming out and telling the truth about the situation. But I'm a little turned off that she seems to be deflecting everything toward Drew.
Both of them are horrible people. Grills isn't less horrible.
Well, actually... Grills is SORRY. So that makes her less horrible than Drew.
Does Obama have to drink "Vitamin Water" now?
Probably black folks. Pennsylvania has the highest number of hate groups in the country. Not highest population, b/c it's a small state, but the most groups, because even PA haters can't get along and consolidate.
