...Or Maybe Not

13547-brangelina1.jpgUs and People are reporting that there was not, in fact, a Brangelina wedding. A source tells Us the story is "complete and total bullshit." Sigh. Star is still claiming that there was a small ceremony on Saturday afternoon. Is it true? Or is it that sometimes when you want something badly, you'll do anything to make it true? • Yeah, I checked. My aunt and her "roommate" still weren't married. I wish though...

  • oh leave the fuckers alone. i rather like that they've resisted the bovine herd and haven't gotten married.

    Colour me shocked.

  • @charlotte corday: But they MUST. Everyone has to be married to be happy. And think of the children! [/sarcasm]

Actually I quite like it too. As far as I care.

I don't think they got married. Brad's next movie isn't released until September, Angie's doesn't come out until June - and the current pregnancy already covers the publicity for that one.

For real, I can't see Brad having a wedding without his family, and finding out if a whole mess of Pitts from Missouri flew to New Orleans isn't rocket science.

  • Seeing the number of people rendered happy and healthy by marriage and towing the status quo line...

I can't help but also endorse both living in sin (or God forbid, living without a mate at all, like myself) and 'bastard, illegitimate' children like my own daughter.

As long as love is in the equation and no one's gettin' abused, I see no problems, any which way.

Live and let live and all.

I also worry that marriage will bizarrely destroy their relationship and I love them so I would hate that.

  • Did anyone read the interview in Vogue, wherein Ange flies up, piloting a jet, and Brad roars up via motorcycle, and they look all deep and beautiful and proclaim that they have no nannies?

Yeah. I'm still trying to figure out if Shiloh et al were in the saddlebags or the cargo hold.

I don't know who is responsible for yanking my chain but I'm really trying to reclaim it as MY chain, and not the property of every asshole with a story to peddle.

  • Ugh. Who cares?

  • I'm glad it looks like it's BS. I kind of like them and don't want to see them with Foot-In-Mouth Syndrome after their vow not to wed 'til same-sex marriage is legalized.

  • I never thought the story was true. I do, however, think some publication was looking to get a gazillion hits on their website....

  • @blondegrlz: Damn you and your accurate cynicism!

  • If Brad and Angie got married it would be an extremely big deal. They'd get at least 10 million for the photos of the private ceremony and donate the money to a worthy cause. There's no benefit given for sneakin' down to a courthouse.

  • Ok, if they were going to get married, they would probably have done it in some way that raises social awareness for a problem. Like gettin' hitched in a refugee camp in Tchad. If it was gonna be in New Orleans, they probably would have hundreds of cameras recording them walking across a pile of rubble to get to the altar, and a request for wedding gifts to come in the form of donations to habitat for humanity or something.

@sjct: yeah, but at the same time, I think they would do something smallish in the hopes of actually having a private moment to themselves. But, I bet they would throw a huge party, sell the pics, donate, etc so that some good could come from the media fracas a wedding would cause.

Oh, and I agree that the report was probably false.

  • Let's plan their fantasy wedding. I'll start.

Instead of walking down the aisle as man and wife, a Coast Guard helicopter would swoop down and carry them away to the large tent, where their guests would dine on leftover MREs.

  • This is definitely one couple I could care less about either way if they get married or not. Who really cares? I don't.

I think they actually might last. How boring.

  • The Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars would play the reception.

  • @midwesternmom:
The Ethiopian women who hand stitched her wedding gown would precede her down the aisle, strewing organically grown rose petals and singing traditional songs.

  • 1. Why must they be married? My parents lived in happily non-maritial bliss for twenty-one years and weren't lacking in anything, save for maybe some tax breaks.

    2. Also, may this please please be a lesson to Jezebel to ignore this worthless non-substantial untrue celebrity gossip crappppp? THANX.

  • *insubstantial. whatevs.

  • i just want to know it we should be expecting one or two versions of the second coming, thats all. ;)

  • @caseynissa: Ahahaha! Wherever did you get that picture of my political boyfriend looking like a stoner with the cigarette hanging out his mouth, eyes all lazy, ears akimbo. That made my day. My man.

And may I add that I hate that there's no Jez on the weekends when I have time to actually participate and not on the sly. It's the doldrums.

  • They already have everything. They don't need to get married.

  • Married. Not married. Only when some news outfit (dubious or otherwise) reports that these two have vacated the planet will I be a truly happy girl.

  • @blondegrlz: Yes, but between them they have enough money to buy the services of plenty of impersonators for both them and their family members.

You think Angelina would invite Billy Bob Thorton to the wedding?

  • @BeAgrestic: If it's even possible for them to have true privacy anymore. They're such public figures that the logistics required to pull off a private wedding would make the D-Day invasion look like a tea party.

  • @JessicaLovejoy: Stars and Dykes Forever!: I think that's the best reason for them not to get married. I think they can pull off the Tim Robbins/Susan Sarandon gig easily enough.

  • sounds like they may have had a thing to celebrate their relationship, not an exchange of vows or anything terribly official. i know a ton of people who just threw an awesome little party, and people just gave toasts or whatever. not to be confused with a wedding. it seems like that would suit them much more, doing things ever-so different and wonderful.

I read something somewhere, and this might be totally offtopic, but I can't remember where. Can someone confirm this? I thought that either Brad or Ange said that they weren't going to get married unless all adults who are in loving, committed relationships could get married legally in the US.

I thought that was a really cool sentiment--I don't know if Brad or Angelina actually said that, though.

However, two of my best friends in the entire world are lezebels. They've been together for over ten years now. If I ever get married, I'd want it to be in a time and a place where all of my couple friends can legally marry each other. I love my lezebels. They deserve equal representation.

  • @blondegrlz: I completely agree with your logic. It is possibly the most rational thing I have heard/read all weekend.

  • @Parasol:
Hear, hear! No Jez on the weekends makes me very sad, too. I'm often too busy at work to check in, and by the time I get home, the last post of the day has been posted and commented upon. Checking up on all the posts and chat is kinda like living in the past. Which I seem to do a lot of lately, anyway...Weekend Jezebel, let's go!

  • @ihateyourescalade:What for? There are truly bad people in this world and they aren't Brad and Angelina. I could maybe see you saying that about Paris Hilton, not a couple who donates millions of dollars to charity a year. Taxes do not lie.

  • @vangie: And I have that extra added too late to the party west coast thingy happening. Hate that. The weekday mornings are sorta cool, but things get into rollicking good fun right about the time I have to carry my ass to the shower. Geez, I'm needy.

  • Bjork is spreading rumors again.

  • @Parasol:
I'm needy, too! And not quite on the west coast, but in the same time zone. Maybe we should just agree to meet up in the last chat of the day...maybe we could get an after hours Jez party started. We can't be the only ones out here, left out of the fun. Can we? Hello?

  • @caseynissa: 1. For reals?!?!? How did they manage that? I've been contemplating this arrangement. The idea of co-mingling credit scores and assets frightens me. And most men I know won't sign a pre-nup.

  • *yawn* No idea what the fascination is with other people's weddings (or possible non weddings.)

  • Um, apparently the presidential candidates should make Brad/Angelina policies, cause this shit divides people and makes everyone fussy! Damn!

Obama for Brad & Angie! Holla!

  • @vangie: Same here. So it looks like I'm up and drinking wine at 5am, not 2am. (Which I am so, so ok with.)

    Back to avoiding thesis work...

  • Image of zivah zivah at 08:54 AM on 03/31/08 *

I don't want them to get married, much less badly.

(Unless - oh - you were talking about the gossip rags wanting it, weren't ya.)

  • @tranquilmademoiselle: Oh, definitely--add Paris to the list. And Tom and Katie. And Kate Moss. In fact, there should be an obnoxious celebrity planet, where they all live and leave the rest of us in peace. (Or maybe that planet is Los Angeles.) I'm sorry if I sound like a hater. Celebs just truly bug the bejeezus out of me. They encapsulate all that is wrong with our society, all the vapidity, the money-worship, the shallow beauty-worship. I agree that Brad and Angelina aren't "bad." But the amount of adoration given to them because, let's face it, they are good-looking--it's loathsome. What about the real heroes? The scientists trying to stop global warming and the doctors looking for a cure for malaria?

Okay, stepping off the soapbox now.

  • The minute they get marries is the minute every tabloid will start the divorce countdown. I like to think about them as above that particular fray.

  • Image of Archetype Archetype at 12:27 PM on 03/31/08 *

    Well, there it is.

  • didn't they say they wouldn't get married until everyone could? unless something change with the law over the weekend chances are they're still living in sin.
