Tupac will be addressing this on his next album.
The LATimes "sources" are about a real as those scholarships they promise those kids shilling subscriptions door-to-door.
Ironically, Diddy needs attention like a drug as well.
@andBegorrah: Haha! I'm trying to remember a skit done on a sketch show (MAD TV?) or maybe a movie where a guy is listening to a Tupac album and he starts rapping about what's going on in the present. Dammit I need smoke less pot.
Watch yourself, Nancy. Jeff Gillooly might find someone to club you in the knees.
@nolongerinacubiclebutstillawhore: I need TO smoke less pot.
Sigh. I'm going home now....to...uh.....smoke pot. *shrug*
@nolongerinacubiclebutstillawhore: chappelle's show, silly! "it might be doo doooooo!"
"[The] first real postmodernist candidate for the presidency" my ass. Has that tool already forgotten Bush palling around with his buddies on the plane in 2000? The endless footage of Bush cleaning up brush at his ranch, sometimes asking his buddies in the press to give him a hand? The near-naked contempt reporters showed for Gore? Has he never heard of The Daily Howler? Gimme a break.
I've been thinking that the whole "I'm not voting for your candidate if mine doesn't win" thing is being blown out of proportion. As usual, A) polls must be taken as fairly unreliable, B) Democrats aren't going to do anything that might jeopardize them taking the White House now that they control Congress, and C) this os a Presidential election, not kickball on the playground.
@andBegorrah: And there is sure to be one. Most prolific dead rapper EVAH.
Also, I never buy political memoirs and I would totally buy a book by Michelle Obama. In some ways she intrigues me more than her husband. I'm pretty sure after this campaign season anything she wrote would be a bestseller, whether Obama gets the nomination or not.
Just like Jamie Lynn to steal my limelight by getting engaged the same week as me. That's it, our friendship is over.
Am I the only one who is sad that Jamie Lynn is doing the whole shotgun wedding thing? I mean, maybe she really wants to, but it seems like a PR bandaid to me.
Also, congratulations, Lymed!
@NefariousNewt: Those polls also go back & forth depending on which candidate is doing well. Back when Obama failed to close the deal in TX & OH, the % of Obama supporters who wouldn't vote for Hillary was much higher. Now Hillary is looking worse so her numbers are higher.
I personally think that we'll coalesce eventually when people have had times to mourn their candidate. But I also think 2 things are important to bring the Dems together:
1) The losing candidate needs to tell their supporters to get their butts in line for the good of the party.
2) The winning candidate needs to at least offer the VP position to the other. I doubt at this point either would accept (unless the DNC holds a gun to their head), but I think the offer will go a long way in generating goodwill among the other side.
Just my opinion though!
@Lymed: Congrats! Just don't pick the same date as her - I'm sure the crossover btwn your two groups is huge!
@nerdsausage is in the tank for SATAN: Something about her intrigues me as well. And I'm not even one of those people who loves her or anything.
@marin79: Thanks. She probably won't have alcohol at her nice church wedding so I think most of the guests will choose mine.
Great great article from Ferris. Great job Ryanb!! Did you write the poem or the whole thing or what? I'm slightly confused by that part. It was excellent.
The Tupac/Diddy story was created by a "wildly impulsive, overweight white kid from Florida whose own father once described him in a letter to a federal judge as 'a disturbed young man who needed attention like a drug."
Uh-oh, Perez, you've been caught!
I agree, Moe! Those polls are bullshit. Of course they'll vote for the Dem nominee. When you line up either Dem against McCain, the differences are too great for any Hillary or Obama supporter to seriously consider voting for McCain. People are fickle, and emotions are running high in the Party right now. Fuck the media for building this shit up.
@Lymed: Aw! Congratulations!! I will have to ooh and ahh over the rock and your color and flower choices at our next Jez Happy Hour.
@RyanB: Well done! Congratulations to you, too!
Ryan B - Just wanted to add my congrats on the article. I really admire your perspective on Obama and you did a wonderful job of expressing it. Glad others will get the chance to read!
@Lymed: Congrats!
Yeah, I know the infighting is ridiculous right now, but I don't believe most Dems will cut off their nose to spite their face come election day.
@Lymed: Congrats on your engagement!
@RyanB: Congrats on your article and shout out!
Dream jobs, engagements, recognition... A pretty good week, I'd say.
I don't get the dig about Michelle Obama (i.e. for some inexplicable reason?). People may not like her for their own personal reasons, but in my opinion, she is one of the most intelligent, articulate, and level-headed women that have come on the scene for awhile. I would be happy to read her memoirs because I am quite sure they will be very interesting.
A lot of people in politics or related to it are approached to do books. George W. Bush wrote a book. Not totally certain if George W. Bush has read a book.
RyanB: Your editorial is extremely well-crafted and will withstand this election as well as the test of time. Thank you.
@nolongerinacubiclebutstillawhore: It's Chappelle isn't it? "I wrote this song a long time ago....I would never vote for George W.....George W. Smith, he ran for city council in Oakland in '93, you probably never heard of him, I wrote this song a long time ago"
@That_little_attention_whore: Here it is:

i just don't get what the 'wildly overwieght' has to do with it. does that make him 'crazier'?
right, the kid is crazy.
but i'm just uncomfortable with 'overweight' being accepted as a standard description of an unhinged person.
@Lymed: Congrats! Your wedding is going to be way more fun than JL's.
Oh, that the lord jesus that Jamie Lynn won't be having a bastardchild.
*thank*
john mccain is the first postmodernist candidate for president, eh? i eagerly await his thesis on the intersection of theories by bhabha and foucault.
no? oh. never mind.
Well done RyanB! Very good article.
@NefariousNewt: I sure as hell hope it's being blown out of proportion. That is sooooo high school student council elections.
@blackbirdfly: Exactly. Politics may be many things, but it's not high school. You know that whichever candidate pulls in second, they will turn to their supporters, look them in the eye and go "we ran a good campaign and we'll get 'em next time. In the meantime, we can't let the other guy win, so we're getting behind the Democratic nominee, all right?"
@Meg: Right? All sorts of good news for the Jezebelles this week! Congratulations, Lymed and RyanB!
Woah, cool! McCain denies the Western rationalist foundations of epistemology and absolute meaning, using language to deconstruct and interrogate oppressive political structures? [reads NYT article]
Oh. Right. Lame.
