New research shows that women who self-identify as feminists are less judgmental of other women's weight. Psychologist Viren Swami from the University of Westminster in London showed a series of photographs of 10 faceless women of varying weights clad in tight gray clothing to 129 women who called themselves feminists and 132 women who did not. According to the New York Times, the women were asked to name the thinnest and heaviest women they found "physically attractive," and also to pick out the woman they found most attractive overall. The feminists found more heavier women attractive than the non-feminists did, but all the women involved tended to agree on the most attractive woman: one who was slightly underweight. Sigh.
