Yeah, We Know: Dr. Laura Schlessinger Is Full Of Shit

Today Show producers must have been in overdrive yesterday afternoon: The talk/news program was pretty much all Eliot Spitzer this morning, featuring an interview with former New Jersey first lady Dina Matos McGreevey (more on her later) and Dr. Laura Schlessinger, who sent Today Show viewers into fits of fury after she suggested that Eliot Spitzer's wife Silda — and other cheated-on ladies — was somehow responsible for her husband's transgressions. (Choice quote: "These days, women don't spend a lot of time thinking how they can give their men what they need."). Sure, it would be easy to rip Schlessinger a new one but honestly, does anyone really take this woman seriously? She's basically a humorless, post-menopausal Ann Coulter with a physiology degree. And she's been saying this sort of shit about women for a while now. Clip above.

  • Maybe the husbands should start thinking about giving *their wives* what they need.

    Flaming Bastards.

I hate cheaters. I just hate them. One of my BEST friends cheated on her husband and I dropped her like a fuckin rock. (her husband was also one of my closest friends so I was REALLY pissed.)

  • We haven't heard much from "Dr." Laura lately. Come to think of it, not much of anything since she called us a biological mistake and the gays went apeshit on her ass.

  • that's girl on girl hate, dr. laura! It's totally not the wife's fault, and its so wrong to say that - like women don't have enough to be worried about.

  • I refuse to watch her. In high school, my best friend's mom used to listen to her on the radio all the time, and we would just sit in the back rolling our eyes. The woman is a freak show. But it's scary how many people eat that shit up - including my friend's mom!

  • Oh, Dr. Laura. Every day is an uphill battle for you, isn't it? "Must. Be. Relevant."

  • Somehow I don't think that it was "validation" that Spitzer was after.

Oh how I would like to slap her. Just once. It says something about Dr. Laura that I clearly remember, at 8 years old, listening to her on the radio, and turning to my mother and saying, "This is a BAD woman." At eight years old. Who takes her seriously?

  • Dina McGreevey got ripped off in the divorce settlement because of her husband's connections with the NJ courts. That makes me mad.

I love how the anthropologist gets pissed at her. Then she is back shilling her book later, and Curry was getting pissed off.

Stop this blaming the victim crap. If you husband isn't man enough to tell you the marriage isn't working for him, then his is a shit pure and simple.

  • Holy fucking batshit crazy.

  • Aww, the poor widdle men and their poor widdle neglected needs, waah, waah, waah! Um, HELLO? Do we think the wives' needs are being met in between trips to the grocery store, hauling the kids to whateverthefuck the kids have to do, and picking up after a great lazy git of a man? WHY are the wives' needs never addressed?

  • even my boyfriend was all "WTF LAURA?!"

  • Yeah, its the wife's fault the husband is sneaking around paying for hookers. Right. I don't know of anyone who would take this woman seriously, I sure as hell don't. If you're paying for hookers and you have a wife/girlfriend/whatever at home, there may be something wrong with you. Not her. You.

  • She is a self-loathing woman-hating piece of human garbage.

If you want to be a miserable shithead, please do us all a favour and don't spread the vitriol around. It sickens me that she has women on her side. :(

You know, Dr. Laura has a point. If Spitzer's wife wasn't out working and stuff, she would have had the time to figure out how to fulfill her husband's need for risky sex with a stranger.

  • I think people on both sides of the relationship should be thinking about what they can do to make the other person happy. If you're thinking about cheating because your wife has given you the cold shoulder, maybe it's time to think about WHY she has given you the cold shoulder. duh.

  • This is so true. Ladies, you need slut it up more. I know I can't wait to make my man a sandwich after letting him go deep from behind after not using a condom. Lowering my humanity and dignity tells my man that I love him more than life itself. And I know he will never leave me because of that fact.

  • Every marriage is going to have problems. That doesn't give one party license to cheat. This is nonsense.

  • Uh, I fucked my ex constantly and always stroked his ego. And the fucker still cheated on me with one I will only call Elephant Tits. So, go curl up in an alley somewhere and die, Dr. Laura Fuckface.

  • Yet I love that she thinks that leaving your quadriplegic partner is immoral on the basis that you married for "more than the sex." Fuck this woman makes me stabby.

  • Image of Leiakat Leiakat at 12:14 PM on 03/11/08 *

@BicSharpie: Actually she accused Spitzer's wife later of being wealthy and probably out shopping most of the time. To which Curry almost through a fit, and you could see Hoodia trying to calm her.

  • high forehead + high cheekbones: high testosterone= horn dog?! How do you explain Gene Simmons?
Oy the NE is going crazy--the governors of NJ, CT, and now NY all shot down by scandals.

  • @BiscuitDoughJones: Seriously. Now where's that waaaambulance?

  • Are the man's needs being addressed? Does Dr. Laura work for Cosmo now? I've been saying it all along, if Silda Spitzer had only tried the scrunchie trick, none of this would have happened.

  • Dr. Laura is such a self-hating tool. Get this through your head: it is not OUR responsibility to make men feel like men. I don't depend on my man to make me feel *validated* as a woman. What a dickhead she is.

  • It is very unfortunate that many people in fact DO take Laura Schlessinger quite seriously. My father insisted, a few years back, that my mother read her books so as to know why he needed a woman to support him sexually and emotionally. I felt that he was coping out of his responsibilities as a partner by playing the "oh I am just a weak man who needs a womans love" card. That he got this position validated by a woman with a Dr. in front of her name (no matter how it was received) made him feel that he was just in desiring a wife who submitted to him. Yuck. But I must also say that my parents more often than naught call themselves 'liberals'... Ugh.

I hope she and Chelsea WaPo are super best friends.

@SkippingTowardsJaded: pshh. a sandwich AFTER? I just bring a bunch of Pastrami and nachos to bed with me. While he does me from behind he can put the nachos and the salsa on my back, what a convenient TV tray! and of course, he can still watch some porn on tv. And since I'm bent over, I take advantage of that time and shine his shoes and dust the floor a little. Gotta keep that house clean!

  • Can't bear to watch the clip but the screen shot looks like a blonde Judge Judy minus the good sense.

  • I think this is just Dr. Laura's on-going need to be the prettiest pretty princess in the lunchroom.

  • So according to her, we should all lube up and spreadem when a man is ready to go? The sex thing REALLY bothers me. What does she say about date rape? (Seriously, does anyone one know?) It would seem to me, she would say that men are entitled to divide and conquer whatever, whenever? Am I right? It is so barbaric and dehumanizing and definitely a gender crime! Also, Howard Stern has been on the radio for 20 something years too, but I certainly wouldn't hold his opinion close to my heart if he was pumping relationship advice. Does she not get that she is a gimmick? Maybe she does...

I turned this off this morning. My mother used to listen to Dr. Laura's radio show in the afternoons but even she got tired of the bullshit. And my mother is a card-carrying, pearl-wearing, religious right wing Republican. If Dr. Laura can't keep THAT core audience no wonder she's on tv being all "controversial" for attention.

Dr. Laura, Silda may not have given Eliot what he needed (which was apparently condom free sex with a prostitute) but I'm going to give YOU what you deserve- a good ol' kick in the cunt.

  • I think Dr. Laura's just mad that Spitzer didn't pick her from the facebook of $5500 per hour whores.

  • "Dr." Laura should know about what drives men to cheat. Her current husband left his wife for Laura. And I believe he remains estranged from his original kids.

Living by example, that's the Dr. Laura way.

  • @ineffable.me: LOL. Whatever I make tacos while cleaning the tub and his balls.

  • @Sukie in the Graveyard:We cheat because we are not getting what we want at home. Of course, it is morally wrong, but at the same time many of us cannot get out of a marriage that easily, nor do they have the financial means to support children without help. So, you fufill that need elsewhere..."wrong" it is..but, sometimes it is the only thing that can keep you from going insane!

  • @ineffable.me: That's fucking awesome.

How the fuck do you repair a marriage by cheating? WTF? GAH!!! IT BURNS!!!

"When will you die...when will you die...when will you die??? Please die."

  • i get so pissed off by this kind of shit. people who screw around, whether to make up for perceived lacks in their current relationship or just because they need the constant sexual reinforcement that they're so desirable, would do this no matter what. and if you're involved with somebody who acts out with sexual compulsions, you could be the hottest and most sexually un-inhibited person on the planet and it wouldn't be enough for the addict.

What clusterfuckery is this? All kinds of crazee.@Lady Skittlehattington's Publicist: Sorry sweets. Some people just don't know a good thing when they have it.

  • @ineffable.me: Is it weird that your post made me really want some nachos? I just might have to go to California Tortilla for lunch now...

  • Image of mepo mepo at 12:21 PM on 03/11/08 *

Ahhhhhhhhhhh must slap her pursed up face.

  • @BicSharpie: Um WTF?

  • @ineffable.me:
I *do* hope you have a smile on your face whilst engaging in the above - the last thing a man needs at home is a drudge!

  • @allora: God damn that made me laugh. "waaaaaaaaaaaambulance"

  • @ineffable.me: This is why I love you.

  • Image of ineffable.me ineffable.me at 12:23 PM on 03/11/08 *

@LeggoMyEggo: She probably think that date rape is made up by women who don't want to accept their role as submissive wives in a relationship.

  • maybe this is the inappropriate place to ask about it but what is all this about him not wanting to use a condom? did the girl actually agree to that? because that is crazy. and how did the no-condom request even get out to the media? Sorry, I need girlfriend to gossip about this with in person :(

  • Image of lolly71 lolly71 at 12:23 PM on 03/11/08 *

I'm ashamed to share a first name with the beastly woman.

  • @angryblackgurl: um... I mean, I'm not married, so maybe I don't have room to talk, but no. You don't cheat. That's not a marriage. It's not good for the kids, either, so don't hand me the "I'm in it for the kids" thing. They know something is wrong, they feel it.

  • I gave up on the Today show after they kept giving airtime to Drew Peterson. This nonsense validates my decision.
