Madonna's Directorial Debut Is "Not An Outright Embarrassment"

Above is a clip from Madonna's directorial debut Filth and Wisdom, which premiered yesterday at the Berlin Film Festival to mixed — but mostly horrible — reviews. The good news, as the Telegraph puts it, is that it's "not an outright embarrassment," which, given Madge's history in the movie industry, is a step up. The film, also produced and co-written by Madonna, is about three flat mates in London, working menial jobs while having aspirations of larger success (one of them is Gogol Bordello frontman Eugene Hutz, the funny Russian Kangol enthusiast from Everything Is Illuminated). Above is a clip from the film, featuring one of the flatmates who dreams of being a ballerina, but is trying her hand at stripping — unsuccessfully — in order to make ends meet. Most reviews have told Madonna to keep her day job, but many critics never even liked her doing that either.
