What a difference a few days make: Three days after Katie Holmes' stiff appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, Grey's Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl showed up to plug her film 27 Dresses...and talk about her December wedding. Heigl seemed a mite more relaxed than she did in February (her first time on Letterman) and talked animatedly about being a newlywed...so animatedly that we were momentarily blinded by the bling on her engagement ring. And so what does the new wife like the most about married life? That she gets to boss her husband around with even more authority! The charming clip, above.

She looks gorgeous, but she is infinitely dull. I wonder how much mileage she can get out of this newlywed thing.
Did she say nine months of planning? God, it felt like we heard about that engagement forever...
overexposure
She looks like a blonde Ashley Judd in that still.
I know she's trying to be cute and funny, but she's just giving wives a bad name. We are not all controlling nags who give a shit if our husband doesn't look pretty for the wedding day. I mean, I am, but I'm sure some ladies out there aren't.
@Pinkosaurus: Oh, yeah, she does!
i like that red on her. she seems fun.
I like her. I know she inspires a lot of hate, but I like her.
And what the hell kind of ring just slips off like that? That's the story he told her. In reality, he got freaked, took it off and lost it.
i'm pretty sure that katherine heigl is a pod person...
@Pinkosaurus: You're right! I love Ashley Judd. She's gorgeous and doesn't seem like as much of an asshole as this one here.
She is so dull and I had to turn it off, but I can't hate her because I know I tell long boring stories like that sometimes when I am a bit drunk at parties. They also usually involve my bf which makes them even worse. I am still excited to see 27 dresses though.
@Pinkosaurus: No! Don't you insult Ms. Judd that way! My sister calls Katherine H. Nessie (loch ness monser).
She comes off as kind of tense here. I admit, tho, I don't know if I understand all the hate. She was totes on the front lines during IsaiahGate, and she never really forgave him (which, if you read about what really went on, is totally warranted), and I kind of respect her. Tho tho, criticizing your hit movie after the fact is kind of looking a gift paycheck in the mouth.
i don't have to reiterate my dislike of her but she seems well on her way to becoming america's sweetheart by pimping her private life. just waiting for the inevitable: the divorce and the unplanned pregnancy and finally her publicist begging us to respect her privacy. yawn.
Just realized my previous post was as dull as her speech. Sorry Ladies!
Katherine Heigl is the Michelle Pfeiffer of the 2000s. In 20 years we'll be talking about how good she looks and whether she's using botox.
I like her too - unlike a few others we hear about too frequently, she seems pretty normal (okay, so minus the rock, houses in LA, and property in Utah)
Heigl's trying to be an OG pussy whipper.
I kind of felt bad for her husband watching that. Like - let's throw him under the bus to get a few laughs - I dunno. It felt weird to me.
But I've also given up caffeine, so a lot of my thoughts are kind of random/PMS-like these days. Ugh.
But looking again at that clip and thinking of the recent Ellen Pompeo post, what is up with the serial sculpting of curls on women lately?
Ugh. I hate when women think it's cute or acceptable to boss men around as though they are their mothers. If it's not okay when men are overly controlling in relationships then how is it both alright and charming for women to do it?
File this under "Weddings are for other people."
Dude, how boring was this interview? And how unfunny was her cold feet anecdote?
She and Eva Longoria need to hang out and talk about their husbands and marriages together. That way, the rest of us don't have to hear about it everyday.
Is is wrong that I'm more Meredith Grey than Izzie Stevens? Not that I have anything against the Heig, of course, she seems super happy and honeymooney.
Explain to me again why we are not supposed to like her? is it because she is gorgeous? is it because she is a little too excited about being married? i mean, ok, she may not be the most interesting human being in the world, but then again, most actors and actresses aren't. sorry, but it's true. the only ones who are remotely interesting are the ones behaving badly, and then they are only interesting for their shock value, not for their sparky personality.
This only makes me love her more. And I want that dress. And hair. now please.
She's very cool and we are all controlling nags to some degree.
I really don't understand the dislike, especially the nasty "skank cancer" name I've heard thrown around. The trailer for her new movie grates me, but other than that, I think she's pretty and neither skanky nor carcinogenic.
and the first sentence was of course meant to be: "why are are not supposed to like her" doesn't it make more sense like that? oooppppss
@Bigggnasty: Seriously. I'm a fan, but even I'm sick of hearing about her wedding, the honeymoon, and the joy of marriage. She needs to take a 6 to 8 month vacation and then do a few indies rather than RomComs.
@peliroja: If you were more Izzie I think we would all be worried. I'm more of a Cristina myself.
I kinda like K.H., though. She's slightly annoying in this clip with all the husband-talk, but she seems fun - and she has such a cute laugh.
Dear Katie Holmes,
It is more human and realistic to discuss having some trepidation into getting married (see above clip), than to endlessly prattle on about how unconditionally amazing everything is.
@pureblarney: The way she handled the whole Isaiah thing is one of the reason's I don't like her actually. I thought she was totally right in having an opinion and supporting her best friend, but it seemed like long after he was fired and reprimanded for it, she still wouldn't shut up about it. She held a public grudge and was just really not gracious about that (or anything) which makes me dislike her.
Over it. Can I knock her down and steal her dress?
@shiningstar: Yeah I agree with you on that one. It felt like one long boring stunt to draw attention to herself.
@bridesmaid4: Katie Holmes is a very sad story. I wonder if Tom gives her tranquilizers or something.
@sequined: I wish that were the case. Scientologists can't take pharmaceuticals, so Katie's relaxed demeanor is all natural. My theory is that she was brainwashed.
I love her. I hope she and Joshua stay married forever and ever, because she's obviously in love with him and excited about being a wife. Most of the time I'm against marriage, but when I see someone so excited and happy about it I think it's adorable.
I like her and honestly think she just doesn't have the media filter that a lot of Hollywood folks have. She talks about her life and what's on her mind and doesn't really seem to give two shits what other people think of it. That's usually something Jezzies admire.
@BeAgrestic: Brainwashing, auditing...same difference.
@kildavimes: we dislike her for many reasons:
don't complain about the role that catapulted you into stardom of being anti-feminist and then inflict absoulute DRIVEL like "22 dresses" upon the masses.
like that other overreaching tv actress jessica alba, katherine has been known to be a complete total BITCH to her costars and underlings.
and lastly, she's a famewhore and doesn't even have an interesting life/story to share a la angelina. she's the mormon eva longoria.
there it's been explained. please spread it around the internets.
I give that Heigl-Homely Guy union two years. Max.
@lucyjae: I WOULD admire her, but her famewhoredom and bloated ego is too obvious for me to overlook.
I'm neither here nor there on her, honestly. I just can't get excited enough to hate her or like her.
@athertonmerriweather: Oh my GOD THANK YOU. Eva is the most annoying EVER. Katherine is 2nd. DID YOU KNOW TONY PLAYS BASKETBALL???
@athertonmerriweather: I was laying on the sarcasm...Eva announces Tony's career everytime she appearson the telly. Cannot stand her.
INCREDSTOTESLOVESIT
Tony would also never even THINK of cheating on his mini-coug. Have you heard how much he loves her singular mouth?
@bridesmaid4: Hmm, maybe I just don't pay enough attention to her to see it. And, hey she said she hated the whole George/Izzie thing so she can't be all bad.
@ missamadams: A good friend of mine works pretty closely with Wynona Judd, Ashley's sister, and says that Ashley is pretty much a nightmare on wheels prima donna. That said, I don't know her personally, but I trust his judgment.
@bessmarvingirldetective: SO TRUE. i kind of liked her in "knocked up," and actually disagreed with the whole anti-feminist argument. the movie gave heart and humor to a usually unfunny situation, and played off stereotypes in an interesting way. it also catapulted her to stardom. i'm sure we would have moved on from all that, except "27 dresses" seems to nullify any argument she may have made against the apatow flick. and NOW, to top it all off, she's completely exploiting her marriage to make herself appealing. a walking contradiction, and not in a good way. plus, that interview was boring. she is pretty, though, i'll giver her that.
