In response to the increasing number of women subjected to sexual trauma in the military (and the recognition that it's a real problem and not just something that happens in a horrible John Travolta movie), the Veterans Administration is opening up its first facility solely dedicated to treating female veterans who have been sexually assaulted. Nearly 3,000 service members reported being victims of sexual assaults in 2006. This new facility will have 10 beds. [Asbury Park Press, UPI]
