First The Simpsons, now Charlie Brown and friends? Are fashion's latest muses cartoons? Apparently, yes! Isaac Mizrahi, Heatherette, and our favorite "bad mommy", Project Runway's Laura Bennett, are part of a group of designers creating a runway show for New York's Fashion Week inspired by the various characters of one of our all-time favorite comic strips. Why is fashion so into cartoons, we wonder? Is it because they actual present more realistic body shapes than, uh, that of real people? Or is that they makes for easy targets when fashion wants to get all weirdly esoteric and start commenting on gender roles? We're beginning to suspect the latter; after all, Mizrahi will be conceptualizing poor Charlie... in drag. But what does that mean for the little redheaded girl? And if Charlie's now a drag queen, is Peppermint Patty going to get called out for being the big ol' Lez(ebel) everyone always knew her to be?
