Great news if you're looking to plan the trendiest wedding of all time: The Knot has just released a list of "top trends" for the year. And apparently, 90s nostalgia is going to unleash a flood of—brace yourselves, ladies—crop-top wedding dresses.
The Knot predicts that, in addition to all-night parties and "woodland weddings," touches from the 1990s will also be popular in the coming months:
The '90s are back in a big way — from the ready-to-wear fashion runways to home design trends and even Billboard's "The Hot 100" music list. Plus, the '90s were the party decade, so it may not be surprising to hear that '90s-inspired details are on trend for weddings this year. We're talking temporary tattoo wedding favors, hip hop music groups or even break dancers to entertain guests while the band or DJ takes a break, and crop-top wedding dresses.
Yes, it's finally fashionable for you to walk down the aisle wearing an ivory version of Bianca's prom dress from 10 Things I Hate About You and hand out slap bracelets as party favors. Give it 24 hours and the folks over at BuzzFeed will have assembled the 65-step guide to your ultimate 90s throwback wedding; hope you don't mind "No Scrubs" for your first dance!
Even if you aren't looking for an excuse to serve fruit rollups and Surge at the buffet, you could still go crop-top. According to a report on the Knot's blog from back in October, it was actually a "mini trend" on the runways at bridal fashion week. If your nana is opposed to bare midriff in a house of God, you can always rock J. Crew's bridal jumpsuit during the ceremony and switch to the crop-top for the reception.
Nevertheless, this does not officially become a trend until its fifth appearance on Style Me Pretty. Rules are rules.
